Collection: fish out of water

One day on Hachijojima, a fisherman friend of mine invited me on a sunset cruise.

We headed steadily out to sea toward the setting sun, and soon we could see nothing around us except the sea, the sun, and the boat we were on.

Looking down, the orange light clearly reflected the patterns on the waves. The scene, which continued moment by moment, was so beautiful that I managed to burn the view into my memory in the blink of an eye.

At that moment, a school of flying fish came running alongside the boat, which was moving at considerable speed.
It flies by, whooshing over long distances of tens of meters.

The flying fish's wide-spread fins sparkle in the light of the setting sun.

Like a fish in water!

I wanted to somehow depict this scene, so I created a flowing design with waves and fish interacting.

It is imbued with the message, "Let's live each day to the fullest, like a fish in water!"

I want to live my life with shining eyes, searching for the water that is right for each moment.

Jump and move forward, beyond that.
