Star Fruit

When I traveled to Bali, I came across a star fruit tree.

The dangling fruit has a strange shape resembling a cacao bean.

"Wow! So that's what star fruit looks like."

When they ripen and turn yellow, they drop onto the ground.
The scene was so cute, it looked like a shooting star had fallen from the sky, and it felt like it took us into a storybook world.

I took a bite and it had a delicate flavor with a refreshing acidity and texture like a green apple. And as you can see, when I cut it, it was the star of the show!
Even if you can't see it at first glance, it's wonderful to have a hidden star. This textile design depicts such joyfulness.

It looks just like cacao! The design is done by hand using paint.
Since it's shaped like a star, I had to redraw it many times to make sure it didn't look childish.
This is a picture that was scrapped, but I tried cutting out the core in the middle and experimenting with it.

By the way, a star does not only mean "famous person or popular person" but also means "talent or innate destiny."
People in the past used the stars as landmarks to determine their destination, so it also has the meaning of "a destination."


I closed my eyes and a night so pitch black it's hard to imagine now came to mind.
The stars shone in the pitch black darkness, providing encouragement and comfort to the people in the caravan.
Sometimes we move forward steadily, and sometimes we stand still.

Ah, the same for us living in modern times.
With the star that you were born with, sometimes you move forward and sometimes you stop. Even in the midst of busy days, clear your mind and look for the light of the star that is twinkling deep inside that says, "This is it."

I wished this to myself as I munched on starfruit beneath the vast, spacious sky.
